Effect of recombinant soluble CD40L on human thrombi growth at shear rate 1000/s

Blood from a human donor was anticoagulated and perfused through a capillary tube coated with type III collagen either alone (untreated) or containing rsCD40L or soluble CD40L with the KGD sequence mutated (mrsCD40L(D117E)). Photographs are of a portion of the cross-section of the capillary tube showing thrombi. rsCD40L, but not the mutant protein, enhanced thrombus growth. Bar = 20 micrometer.
